Two life goats

There exists a competition in Kogi state Nigeria where young men compete for the prize of a strong man. The competition involves eating goat meat. A large amount of goat will be slaughtered and cooked in a delicious soup. Then, young men, chaps will be invited to the feast. The last man to stop eating i.e. who eats a lot or the biggest amount of meat then emerge the winner. A very important condition of the feast is that they are continuously flogged while they eat the meat: a bittersweet experience if you choose to call it that way. The prize for winning is two live goats.
Therefore the winner is normally the one who can endure most while still ‘enjoying’.
Sometimes when we expect results either personally or in our business, there is a need to endure and persevere pain, difficult challenges, ‘wilderness experience’ etc.
Here are some tidbits that were given to me by an elder to help in maintaining my life focus:
1                    be sure your business is about what you love doing;
2                    always create a goal that you are passionate about;
3                    be sure all your team understand the plans for your goals;
4                 always ask yourself questions relevant to your core competencies and whatever it is that you can be best in the world at;
5                    all staff should be allowed to make known their deep-seated fears and doubts;
6                    the day you stop doing what makes you great, you start to die.

Until next time when we shall be meeting with a fresh title, don’t forget to always do something that is worth writing about.

Business ruled by emotion or reason?

Business globally exist to solve problem, prevent or manage problems or challenges. Hence in achieving these, they provide products and services which help end-users attain their goals.
Essentially, business that excelled do so by providing or meeting the fundamental need of the consumers. But on few occasions, some business sales are driven by some extra values they add to their goods and services. I carried out a survey on truck drivers’ choice on which brand they will love their boss to buy for them next. 60% responded that they would love to drive the truck that is strong enough for haulage and also have many accessories such as GPS and others. Remaining 40% said although accessories are good but may be immaterial as long as the trucks are strong enough for her primary objective.
Here are little suggestion an elder told me to put in mind when building a business:
1.      design your business t excellently meet the customers’ need;
2.      add feelings and emotional features to your goods and services;
3.      ensure the features added do not consume a lot of daily input  in terms of financial daily running of goods and services.
4.       insure the accessories added do not add too much to the capital cost.
Until next time when we shall be meeting, do not forget to create something worth writing about.

The power of saying no to oneself

Last week we started our discussion on the power of saying no. Today we are going to look on the power of saying no to oneself. The best way in staying on top of progress in the path of achieving goals and avoiding distraction is to master the act of saying no to oneself.  This could be achieved by:
1)      Saying no to pleasure and self-gratification: the word disciple comes from the root word discipline. We need to say no to routine sex, uncontrollable sleep, eating junk food and other uncontrollable appetite. If we cannot discipline ourselves it may be very difficult to say no to others especially when it comes with bait.
2)      Saying no to basic necessities that are not considered as pleasures: Williams James recommended that we should say no at least to two legitimate things or acts in our life every day and watch how powerful  and strong we can be.  Example includes eating meals without so many meats or any meat. It is important that we should not take this too far else it WILL not work.

According to Brian Tracy, discipline(saying no) is the bridge between goals and accomplishment. Saying no will not only help us in achieving our dreams it also protect us from contacting deadly Biological #insurgents such as #HIV, #EBOLA etc.

The power of NO

The greatest king of all kingdoms, duke of all dukedoms, including Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, Evang. S. O. Ebelebe, #Barack Obama, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and great leader in all ages across various industries and institutions who have left indelible legacies in the sand of time have been known to live on the ‘NO’ precept either in time of comfort or at moments when every breath inhaled matters. Research and psychology has shown repeatedly that without the #mastery of the ‘NO’ precept there is little if ever the success one can enjoy in life.
Saying no either to oneself or to external signals (people or circumstances) can be very difficult. This may be because saying no is against what one enjoys doing. It also may be because saying no is feared to likely end a particular relationship. In any case we don’t want loss. #Change requires loss. If our life is not working in any area we must sit back and ask:  which ‘NO’- living must I embrace to create the life I yearn?
Please join me on Monday for a continuation of this article.
Thank you.

SELF-IMAGE

SELF-IMAGE
Self-image can be defined as self-worth; a picture of what kind of person a man perceived himself to be (Maxwell Maltz). Throughout history it has been seen as a determinant or one of the biggest factors that determines success or otherwise of a person. Just as it was written on the emerald tablet 3000BC: as above so below, as within so without; so it is up till now.
How then is this image formed? Do we have negatives? If yes, how do pictures develop from negatives? First, the shape of a mould determines the shape of the product. A mould is metallurgical equipment, having the shape of the intended product and is used to cast (produce) the final or desired product.
Often times the parents or custodian of a child moulds or contribute in a significant measure the character of a child due to the image(s) that is embossed over the course of his/her lifetime. Research conducted on prison inmates observed that 95% of prisoners have been condemned from their childhood by their custodian or parent. Some have heard said to them these words:  thief, armed robber, victim, you cannot turn out well with the way you are behaving etc. These people taught they will correct their mild juvenile delinquencies by such words or been hash on them to an extent that the child security is threatened. These endanger self-hatred, and in a bid to win back the love they supposed to be given unconditionally from their parents make them develop a try-to-please-everybody attitude. This attitude cannot withstand or overcome life challenges or peer pressures.
The book a man read are catapult that propels him speedily in the direction of the contents of such books. If he reads good books he moves faster to become a good leader; this is an I-can-do-it image. If he reads bad ones, he is a threat to his society (John Maxwell).
Association creates character; the Book says evil communication corrupts good habit. The belief(s) ideas of what kind of person you are as seen by your friends go a long way to paint your perception of what sort of person you are. The interesting thing is that you become who you think you are.
Lastly, as a man ‘grows through life’, his thought and actions are what finally shapes this picture he carries. In other words he can change or alter this image to suite the life he wants. He does this by reading books consistent with his desired life, associating with people already living such life and then acting the part or life the he wanted. According to Earl Nightingale, if you want to change an attitude starts by acting the life or part you imagined or desired.

Catch you later.

WEALTH CREATION: is Bill Gates a thief?

Wealth is the state of being rich, it may not only be in monetary form but most time those with other forms of wealth other than money often end up as moneybags. Prior to the invention of money around seventh to sixth century BC trade by barter was the accepted market medium of transaction. Up until now trade  by barter still exist; currency only ease this exchange process. The famous American philosopher Jim Rohn said what you have at the present you have attracted to yourself by who you become.
How do we become a person of value? How can we create market worth that can attract wealth into our lives is the major assignment everybody tries to unravel. This is the puzzle Bill Gates solved that made him the richest [and legitimate owner of wealth] man on planet today. Bellow are 6 steps I think can help us in achieving our dream:

1] Read great books:
you are what you eat does not only apply to body heath but also to our soul. Man becomes what he think or focuses on all day long, hence focus on wealth and how to create it then you become successful.  It has been said that success live clues, rich men across ages has been studied and their experiences documented ; hence the price of any book cannot equate it.

2] Set goals:
a lot have been written about this, get book like those written by Brian Tracy.

3] Mentor:
Expert are said to be those who have made all the mistakes in a narrow field, don't repeat the process learn from them. A good thing about this is that they are willing to show people with pride how resilient and smart they were before they get to their present peak.

4] Get uncomfortable:
Comfort is one of the greatest enemy of success.

5]Solve peoples problems

6]Do what you love

Finally these processes requires time; it doesn't happen overnight. You must have the courage [got] to see it to the end. In the interim you may be seen as a fool. Don't forget what Steve Jobs said : 'Be foolish and be hungry'.
I will also appreciate your comments on how to create wealth. See you next time
