The power of saying no to oneself

Last week we started our discussion on the power of saying no. Today we are going to look on the power of saying no to oneself. The best way in staying on top of progress in the path of achieving goals and avoiding distraction is to master the act of saying no to oneself.  This could be achieved by:
1)      Saying no to pleasure and self-gratification: the word disciple comes from the root word discipline. We need to say no to routine sex, uncontrollable sleep, eating junk food and other uncontrollable appetite. If we cannot discipline ourselves it may be very difficult to say no to others especially when it comes with bait.
2)      Saying no to basic necessities that are not considered as pleasures: Williams James recommended that we should say no at least to two legitimate things or acts in our life every day and watch how powerful  and strong we can be.  Example includes eating meals without so many meats or any meat. It is important that we should not take this too far else it WILL not work.

According to Brian Tracy, discipline(saying no) is the bridge between goals and accomplishment. Saying no will not only help us in achieving our dreams it also protect us from contacting deadly Biological #insurgents such as #HIV, #EBOLA etc.

The power of NO

The greatest king of all kingdoms, duke of all dukedoms, including Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, Evang. S. O. Ebelebe, #Barack Obama, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and great leader in all ages across various industries and institutions who have left indelible legacies in the sand of time have been known to live on the ‘NO’ precept either in time of comfort or at moments when every breath inhaled matters. Research and psychology has shown repeatedly that without the #mastery of the ‘NO’ precept there is little if ever the success one can enjoy in life.
Saying no either to oneself or to external signals (people or circumstances) can be very difficult. This may be because saying no is against what one enjoys doing. It also may be because saying no is feared to likely end a particular relationship. In any case we don’t want loss. #Change requires loss. If our life is not working in any area we must sit back and ask:  which ‘NO’- living must I embrace to create the life I yearn?
